Right now, I am setting up to animate my first stop motion short, but I’m a total novice to lighting setups. My studio is basically a converted junk room (roughly 8×8) in my home with two HDX 10.5″ clamp lights (sans cage) and the stage is a 59″x29″ LINNMON/FINNVARD table from Ikea draped in green posterboard. What I am aiming for is a simple (and softly lit) three-point lighting setup while also trying to avoid any electric shock and/or fire hazards involving my lighting choice. Halogen bulbs & flood lights, by the way, are out of the question since I’m using parchment paper for diffusion.

Does anybody have suggestions for effective lighting under these circumstances?
