  Lighting a scene.

  I have just started in VFX and me and a few mates are going to try our hand at a short film. The problem is i do not know what kind of lights to buy. I am in Australia and it seems that tungsten bulbs are banned, and that is what everyone seems to be using. So i am looking for really cheap lights that will light a scene really well. And advice would be greatly appreciated!

  You might check the details of the law, don’t know about OZ, but in the US that change applies to domestic home bulbs but has an exemption for light used in pro video and film work. Halogens are still out there, and now they’ve been made more efficient as well.

  But you can do a lot with fluorescent tube lights and LED panels. They even make a source-4 ellipsoidal spotlight with LED as the source now.
