My wife and I are in the process of remodeling a building for a restaurant. The dining area will be 25 by 50 with a 16 foot ceiling. We want to use pendant lighting that will hang down 5 to 6 feet. Can some one give me and idea of the number of watts that we will need to cover the entire 1250 square feet?

    Thanks,
    Bob G

Before you can get to watts, don’t you need to better define the light *level* you want to achieve, in foot-candles or lumens or some handy standard, figure out what one light pulls to get that level locally, then multiply? With a fudge factor reducing it a little bit for the fact the lights when all together, mix together. That was assuming fixed-wattage bulbs… Or are they all going to be on dimmers? This may be more a question for an interior designer.
