  short bulb life in Pepper 200 -> best brand bulbs

  Having just stocked up on B&H’s “general brand” bulbs, which a salesperson defined as “whatever we have on hand,” I’ve been dismayed by the short life of these bulbs in my LTM Pepper 200.

  Questions: Do you notice better reliability/life for certain brands? Is there something unique about the LTM Pepper 200 (with 200w bulbs) that makes the life of bulbs in this fixture relatively brief?

  Hmmmm… no, not at all. We have several of the Pepper 100/200 heads (with 200w lamps) and I honestly can’t remember the last time we had to replace a lamp. The seem to last quite a long time, and under relatively heavy use.

  We don’t always buy the same lamps… we usually buy them here in town from Theatrical Lighting Service and they don’t always have the same thing, but I think we normally get Osram.

  I’ve purchased lamps for the Pepper 200 from BulbConnection.com and been very pleased.

  They have ESP 150w versions with 1000 hour life at $9.36/ea. plus shipping.
  They have FEV 200w lamps for $11.23 ea.

  I’ve used the lower-priced Ushio lamps in the last year and have had no problems.

  Bulb Connection also has great prices on lamps for the Tota, Omni, DP, etc.
