Can someone give a suggestion for how to light small animals and insects out in the field where there are no outlets available? I would need something off camera for recording extreme close ups. One light source would be enough. Thanks!

    Greg,

These days, the “hot” battery light for the purpose you describe is the LitePanel LCD. It’s available in native daylight color temperature as well. You should consider the 1×1′ unit in addition to the smaller on-camera version depending on the scale of your buggy subjects.

Thanks. What are the advantages or disadvantages of the flood or spotlight options, and the color temperatures? It should be able to fully illuminate a small critter/very small insect at night enough so the camera makes a clean picture, minimal grain. How does one hook this up to a battery?
