Relinking the entire project
Hey everyone,
My working HD drive started to fail on me, so I transferred all of the footage and the entire project (with the folder and bin structure being exactly the same) onto a different one.
However, now when I reopen the project on a new drive, none of my media is linked. I tried relinking, but came up empty.
It is an online edit, and I’m using the MC 2020.4.
I’m sure there was something that I should’ve done instead of just copying everything onto a new drive, but would you know if there is a way to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you mean you created a new Avid MediaFiles folder on a different drive?
What does the folder structure look like from the root?
If you can, check the existing one in your previous Avid drives.
It should look like this:
DRIVE
Avid MediaFiles
MXF
1 (or whatever but it needs the mdb files in it to know that its a blessed folder). -
I didn’t so much created, but simply selected everything on one drive and moved it, as is, to another blank one.
I basically hoped the only thing i’d have to do is to relink the files to a new drive from within the project, but clearly I was wrong.

The process isn’t relining as that’s intended for Avid media (which would have transfered across with less issues)
To link back AMA content.
Make a new bin or bins.
And link again from the source files into that bin or bins.
As you do the original clips and the sequence will come on line.
Hide those new bins away when done.Pat Horridge
