  • Change hotkey for snapping?

Posted by Wesley Post on July 20, 2017 at 10:26 pm

I am trying to change some of the Avid default hotkeys but it doesn’t seem that all of them are readily changeable. The two that I am trying to change specifically are the hotkey for Snap To (defaulted to COMMAND) and Fullscreen (defaulted to SHIFT, COMMAND, F). I use Premiere often so I would like to make my often-used hotkeys the same, but Avid doesn’t seem to even have these as options to change. I’m hoping I’m missing something. Does anyone know how to do this?

    Hi Wesley,

Snap to : not sure this one can be changed.

The Full screen playback can be mapped to your keyboard (settings-keyboard).
The Full screen playback button is in the “other” tab in the command palette.
The button is on the top right corner in MC 8.7

Just drag and drop it on the desired key on your keyboard.

Thanks David; I have now hotkeyed my Fullscreen playback. Really wish I could find a way to change Snap To from COMMAND to something else!

What you can do is enable snapping all the time.

Settings – Timeline – Edit tab. Check default snap to edit.
You will always be snapping and COMMAND will disable snapping.

    Doesn’t quit cut it.

Personnally, I’ve Hotkeyed te Rewind and Fast Forward buttons (Move tab from the command palette) to the up and down arrows.

This mimics the “go to next edit” from Premiere Pro without entering into trim mode.

    Best i can do.
