  • Preserving Metadata between duplicate Master Clips

    Hi all,

I’m working in multiple versions of Avid MC (6, 7, and 8) and in a rush to complete some multigrouping yesterday, I split up my task over multiple computers (working off hard drives). Now I realize that some of my metadata (Aux TC, as well as custom columns) on master clips is split between identical bins and I want to make sure I don’t overwrite any of the Aux TC I used to multigroup with the blank TC from a clip in the other project.

Any ideas on how I can securely merge the metadata in these bins?

    Best,

    Nate

You could export ALE of the key bins so tou can reimport if you need to.
I’ve had issues with MC merging and losing metadata. Not really got to bottom of logic. It maybe the order they are opened. So keep copies and export ALE first.

Thanks for getting back to me. Haven’t been able to test this out yet, but will get back to this when I get a chance to try some tests.

And remember you can only merge on master clips, not sub, group, sync, etc.
