23,97 fps to 29,97 fps
We have a 23,97 fps project that needs to be exported in 29,97 fps for broadcast. The technician says that it will change the duration from about 4 seconds. It is picture lock and we don’t want to modify the timing. Is it possible to convert without changing duration ?

Well, there’s a way to edit and keep track of the drop frame timing. 23.98 is a non-drop frame only format, so it doesn’t keep track of real time. So you’d have to have a 29.97 drop frame code show up in your RECORD monitor TC area. I do this all the time because pretty much everything I edit needs this timing.
If you didn’t do this, and you only tracked your non-drop 23.98 timing, then yes, you will be long. You can easily convert 23.98 to 29.97 without changing the timing. The issue is that you are ALREADY 4 seconds long. I understand that you don’t want to modify anything, but you can’t be at picture lock if you are 4 seconds long. You’ll need to trim that in order to meet delivery spec.
