    Short answer: yes, with 8.4.3 and up, 3.3GHz or higher i7/Xeon E3

    Haven’t used it myself, though.

    Having read up on it, I would be a little worried that a 23″ screen with that high a resolution would cause everything in the Media Composer interface to become really, really tiny.

    Being an Avid reseller & systems integrator, we have a lot of experience integrating HP solutions with Avid Media Composer. I would have to agree, although it is technically qualified, it may not be the best experience for the user. Which in the long run could cost more time and money than it would cost to go with a “Z” qualified workstation.     I had looked at the same lists but a slightly earlier version. I need something with a smaller footprint (and cheaper) than the Z840 or even the 440. I would also prefer my storage to be external RAIDs, now that I can use Thunderbolt I/O speed.

    I agree with you, Job, about the screen size. Being mostly an offline editor for broadcast, finishing only for web-delivery projects, I thought I might get by transcoding to HD 720 for editing. What I would save on the G3, I could spend on a second monitor and, possibly, an Artist DNxIO with Media Composer bundled. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

    Josh, I got a couple of quotes from Melrose Mac (I am on a Mac Pro for FCS 3) and Keycode Media, but I could certainly use some advice. So I will contact you offlist. I have an old dongle (last used for MC Version 4, I think), but that may not be of any use now.
