  Prores vs. DNxHD for Saving Space

  I am beginning a project that is being shot on a Panasonic Varicam. The camera creates prores proxies as well as 2k master files and I was wondering if it would make more sense to edit the proxies as is or if I should transcode them to DNxHD as a way to save space? Thanks!

  ProRes Proxy takes up very little space…it’s similar to DNxHD 36. I don’t see how converting will save space. Just AMA link to the proxy files, and then CONSOLIDATE, so that it’s Avid MXF media in the file structure and begin editing. I’d do a spot check to make sure the timecode and other metadata match up with the 2K…just in case.
