  Transcoding 175 codec to 175 for online, degradation?

  Hi everyone,

  Question: When transcoding a sequence of AMA linked media that is 175 DNxHD for online to 175 DNxHD, is there a degradation loss? If so is it enough to be concerned?

  Back Story: I’m on a show with a lot of mixed sources with mixed frame rates . In order to make online easier we’ve transcoded everything to 23.98 DNX 175 via third party software (mpeg stream clip, Adobe Media Encoder etc)

  We AMA link to the 175 mov files and transcode to our offline codec of 3:1. When we’re ready for online we will kick our 3:1 media offline, relink to AMA and transcode to 175, targeting to a new drive for the online editor who is coloring in Davinci Resolve

  Rather than transcoding the AMA-linked DNxHD175 sequence, consolidate it. That way, no unnecessary recompression will happen.
