I am trying to import some old minidv footage into Media Composer 8. I am on a mac when I try to import the footage onto external hard drives, I get this message: Exception: Operation not supported, filename:/Volumes/Untitled/Avid Media Files/MXF/1/Creating1 then it goes to same message creating2, creating3, etc.

When I import onto my internal hard drive, it’s OK. although I don’t even see my 2nd internal Hard drive as an option to import to (Its an internal 2TB SSD Drive).

The other drives I have tried are formatted Windows NT Filesystem and ExFat. I also have installed Paragon. Any ideas? Thanks.

Have you tried an HFS+ formatted drive? I’m expecting it’s trying to generate extended attributes and getting an unsupported error so it’s barfing.

I would have a terminal up and capture the process with “dtruss -fp PID” and try to trace it right after you drag the file. I’d be interested to see what system call is failing.
