  Avid MC 7.0.3 and AJA IO XT ( AJA KONA 3 or Teranex 2D) Slow Scrub

  I have 3 new version of MediaComposer 7.0.3 with 3 different card. AJA IO XT, Kona 3 and Teranex 2D.

  I’ve been experiencing slow scrubing in timeline and trim mode when the hardware is ON with every systems.

  When disabling hardware and going to software only (HW / SW) the scrubing is fast and accurate.

  I disable fast Scrub in timeline setting, it’s a little better but not good enough.

  I’m currently on latest AJA io driver and AJA kona driver.
  OS 10.8.5 (i7 3.4GHz, 16GB 1600MHz DDR3)

  It seems that Avid hasn’t been able to nail the expected performance with third party hardware vendors. It seems to fall between the cracks as either a limitation on the Avid/SDK side or with the third parties. Seeing as all the third parties suffer to some extent, it would seem that it’s more in the Avid SDK and how the player pipeline is accessed by third parties. There’s always chatter about it getting better (as seen in Avid community) but each release of MC or third party drivers don’t seem to fix it.

  Maybe MC8.x.x.x.x?
