  AE CS3 crashes importing stills?

  Certain stills I have been trying to import cause AE to crash. They come from 3 different sources (stock houses). Sometimes they also crash Photoshop when I try to open them, but not always.

  I have trashed preferences, tried files as jpeg and pict files, files are RGB 72dpi.
  Is it AE or corrupted files maybe?

  Mac Pro Dual-Core Intel Xeon 2 x 2.66 GHz
  Memory: 3 GB 667 Mhz DDDR2 FB-DIMM

  (I am terrible at the tech stuff so I just copied from system profile. Also this is not my Mac but the company I am working for)
