  uncurling spirals

  Hey all-

  I’m making some simple vector line art spirals uncurl (think plant vines opening up, or the side view of a rolled up rug unspooling). Right now i’ve tried puppet tooling simple mask shapes, but the unspiraling looks unpolished. I’ve tried cutting up masked bits and parenting, I’ve tried 3d Stroke with animated masks, I’ve tried liquify….

  The swirl can be automated, an animated reveal of linework is nice, but the uncurl always has to be animated by hand, though.

  I’m spending way too much time on this, and I’m unhappy with all my results.

  Any ideas???
