  • A database error occurred when reading the file…..

    Hi guys,
I’m having trouble with a couple of files when opening avid.
I moved a few files from one folder to another as we need to keep each of the media folders down to 2000 files per folder.
Our folder structure looks like this:
    Avid MediaFiles>MXF>1
    051113
    281013 and so on.

One folder was in the 3000 mark to I had to move some. All the other files I moved are fine, it’s just 3-4 HD files which were digitised in (archive media).

I deleted the database files in that folder and rebooted the computer then re-opened Avid but I’m still getting the message:

A database error occurred when reading the file (file location and file name)… Then the choice of:
Abort – Quarantine – Quarantine All – Ignore – Ignore All.

Any help with resolving this solution would be awesome!

    Thanks in advance.

Sounds to me like you have duplicates. Did you copy them to another drive, or OPT-Drag them to the new bins? Moving them on the same drive shouldn’t cause this issue, but copying will. Hitting QUARANTINE usually solves this, as it hides the dupes.

And the folder max is 5000 clips, not 2000. Or is this a mandate from your IT people to keep things lean?
