I have FCP7 & Adobe Media Encoder on the Mac, and some XDCAM EX footage, which I’d like to put on a hard drive for an editor with Avid on a PC.

Preferably with the software I have, what is the best workflow to put files on a hard drive which the editor will be able to use with maximum efficiency? I’d prefer to create DNxHD files.

If a DNxHD file plays on a Mac, does that mean it will play on a PC?

    Thanks for your help!

Yes, DNxHD is a cross platform codec allowing for both compression and decompression. It can wrapped in MXF or QuickTime. Depending on application you use, it can be one or the other. You may also want to consider Resolve that can XDCAM and create either MXF or QT wrapped DNxHD. MXF being the native format for Mac and PC based Media Composers.
