  • Issue naming an Avid folder

I am building a project and creating my folders in the project window – why would Avid not display the folder name 07.SFX? All the other folder names with the same convention display correctly, i.e. 01.CUTS, 02.SCENES etc. When I name the folder 07.SFX the project window displays the name as 07 (no period or “SFX”). On my harddrive the folder name is correct: 07.SFX. What gives? I am on Avid 6.5

Likely, your computer thinks it’s a file extension and hides it?

try a 4 character convention. 01.sfx_ or 01.sfxs will work
(sometimes you gotta play by their rules)

I wouldn’t use periods in your folder names. What Job mentioned is most likely the case, it thinks it’s a file extension. I number my folders as well, but I don’t use periods.

Thanks, everyone. I did use the 4 character workaround. I picked up this naming convention from a network show that’s on vs 4, so I guess it was an option back in previous versions.
