  • DVCPRO HD video squeezed in latest Avid, what am I missing?

I know the footage is anamorphic and my 1280X720 footage is really 960X720 but I read that Avid instinctively knows to stretch DVCPRO HD footage out. In my case it is not, even when I export. Project settings is correct, and raster settings are 1280X720. Where else should I be looking to correct this issue? Thanks.

Knowing version and OS might help.

The native dimensions of the file before importing are 960×720? And when imported, is it pillarboxed or stretched to be displayed in a 16:9 viewer? Or does it need both a stretch and a letterbox? What is the intended aspect ratio of the source? 2.40? Something else?

If the latter, and in v7, go to the Source Settings and FrameFlex tab and adjust aspect ratio and letterbox/pillarbox settings as needed.

In previous versions, add the Reformat column to the bin and select letterbox. It may also need a DVE added (in the timeline” to create as aspect ratio other than 16:9 with a stretch.
