  Transcoding

  Having struggled to have MC 6.5 ingest AVCHD (pipe stall error on long files) I’ve found that it is willing to go the AMA > transcode route. Are there any practical differences between the files created?

  I would consider doing the AMA/Transcode for pretty much all file based video ingest.
  I only use import for the odd file that does not work correctly via AMA.

  AMA/Transcode usually is several times faster than “legacy” import.

  Thanks, John. I have to say that even AMA / Transcode crashes from time to time but not as frequently.
