    HP Z800, MC 6.01,Win7 Pro 64Bit, AE CS4.

I have about 250 QT clips that are compressed with the DVCPro50 codec. I can open and view them in After Effects but the QT player, Sorenson and Avid are unable to display the video. Is there a way I can get the Avid to recognize the codec which is obviously on my system somewhere since AE is able to display the video?

I’ve searched for .qtx files and found many but nothing that references the DVCPro codecs.

Most likely, these QT’s were created with FCP or another ‘Pro’ Apple app. They use their own DVCPro codec. Stupid. Either use a Mac or AE to transcode, or spend some dough on https://www.calibratedsoftware.com/qdvcprohd.asp

Thanks for the reply. I ended up transcoding in AE. Just seemed odd that AE could read them but the codec didn’t seem to be available to the other apps.

    A mystery to me.

    Thanks again,
    Mark

I think AE features those Apple codecs (also ProRes etc).

You should be able to export them from Adobe in the future as OP1a.
