We are trying to retain our Tape ID based workflow with file based media. I had hoped importing XDCAM mxf against an ale generated bin with tape ID would bake in the tape MOB upon import – well it doesn’t. Neither does an aaf with tape ID.

We rely on Tape ID to link disparate media and media of different lengths. It gives us the ability to ID the content in a file. We use the combination of Tape ID and TC as a content ID for every frame.

Anybody know a way of embedding tape MOD in an XDCAM import?

    Thanks

Have you tried it in a custom column, then doing a “duplicate column” into the TapeID column once imported?

Although we got mixed responses from Avid and consultants on this we’ve come to the conclusion that the only way to ensure the Tape ID sticks is to embed the Tape MOB metadata in the media file and not have it merely associated in the database.
