silly doubt
Hi,
I just actually realised that I’ve never asked myself this question since I’ve been Switching to MC:The transcode from lowres to highres is taking into consideration the files selected or the source file?
What does Avid takes into account for transcoding ? The source files or strictly the media grabed?
(thinking that the timeline media is in this case of a lower quality)
Taking an ex with AMA: got prores media on a bin and all those media transcoded to dnxhd36 on another bin. Edit done with the dnxhd media. Client does not want a conform to the prores but instead to a highres dnxhd flavour, so new media will have to be created,
But from what then? that’s where my doubt remains. How the app “thinks” in order to keep the best possible quality?
I mean, the created dnxhd36 is a created media for fast and stable
Editing. If I grab those
Dnxhd36 and want to transcode all to a higher
Dnxhd, does Avid “understands” that it has to
Transcode from the source
Media (in this case prores)
Or does it uses the dnxhd36 as the based file?Fred.
