  MC 6.5.2 crashing while transcoding: “Segmentation fault” in thread “MainThread”

  Hi,

  I keep getting this error while trying to transcode: “Segmentation fault” in thread “MainThread”, at 0x0

  I’m working in MC 6.5.2 on a brand new iMac OS 10.8.3, 3.2 GHz intel Core i5, 32GB RAM

  I’m only able to transcode 3 clips at a time maximum, sometimes even that crashes. It’s a hard crash out of the application and doesn’t allow any .new files to go to the bin. It creates MXF files, but they don’t link to the AMA files either.

  Does anyone have a solution? We can’t transcode overnight because we have to babysit the system….rediculous waste of time.

  I’ve tried it on 2 different workstations with the same results.

  Hey Meg,

  First, update to 6.5.2.1, to make sure it’s not a bug that has been fixed. What is the original source you’re importing from? Just the fact that it’s doing the same thing on two different systems leads me down the “bug” road. Let me know.

  Thanks for responding to my post. I will try the update to 6.5.2.1 and see if that helps.

  I’m currently transcoding 720×480 NTSC dv 29.97 QTs in a 1080p 23.98 project using the DNX36 codec.

  I have a lot of different formats as we are using archival footage from US and elsewhere. So I will need to do the same with the following formats:

  PAL 720X576 25fps
  NTSC dv 720×486 23.98fps
  NTSC dv 720×480 23.98fps
  NTSC dv 720×480 29.97

  I tried updating to 6.5.2.1, unfortunately I’m still crashing out. I am getting the “Segmentation fault” error and also this one:

  SWDecodeCvtr::Execute Request()
  CONSISTENCY CHECK FAILURE !?! : []

  Any suggestions? Does anyone know if this is a result of using Mac OS 10.8.3?
