  Exporting from FCP for Avid Edit

  Hi there,

  If someone could help with this i would be eternally grateful!

  I have filmed a job today on Sony EX3, i need to FTP the footage to Russia.

  My plan was to bring the footage in to FCP 7 to trim some clips and delete those that were dud takes, and then export fro FCP to FTP it. Once in Russia they plan to edit it in Avid.

  These are the settings they have requested

  Audio codec MPEG AAC
  Frequency sampling 48000 Hz

  Video codec H264-MPEG 4 AVC
  1920×1080
  frame rate 25
  Planar 4:2:0 YUV

  I am having trouble though exporting from FCP and keeping 2 audio tracks which i need as one is natural sound whereas the other is a personal mic.

  Can anyone help? THey are waiting on the footage in russia at the moment!

  ps i am not at all familiar with Avid editing, but thought this forum might be a good place to ask!

  Does it need to stay as MPEG, or can you do selects, trims, channel selection, etc and export something else? If they plan on using AMA to link to the XDAM files, I am pretty sure FCP doesn’t recreate the proper folder structure will updated metadata.

  Will they take another codec?

  Hi Michael,

  I think they need them as MPEG’s… would it be best to forget FCP and to convert the .mov’s in MPEG streamclip and just top and tale them as i import them through XDCam transfer?

  Id skip FCP all together as mentioned above. You could also DL the media composer demo which will give you full featureset for 30 days.
