  Decomposing problems

  Hey everyone
  I’ve been following this forum for a long time and it helped me many time.
  Now I have a question off my own.

  Im trying to edit a wedding of a friend that has been shot ti AVCHD files…

  The photographer broke the structures of the folders so I did link to AMA files.

  It is impossible for me to edit this, it is terribly slow.

  So Ive decided to do an offline-online editing.

  My method is: transcoding the AMA files to a low res files, cut a sequence, decompose, relink back to the AMA files.
  Or, not even link to AMA, just import the file in a low-res, cut, decompose and batch import to high res files.

  Before I started I tried to do some tests. I stuck in the decomposing part.

  I keep getting a massage: “there are no clips that need to be decomposed”

  So what am I doing wrong?

  Anyway, If you have any advices for my AVCHD editing workflow, Ill be happy to hear those

  First off, check your decomp settings. Make sure you uncheck “offline clips only”, since you want it to decomp everything. Then select “captured and imported clips”. Since you’re only working file-based, it’s important that imported clips be included in the decomp. If that still doesn’t work, bring your sequence in to a new project and see if you can successfully batch import by showing reference clips rather than through decomp. Good luck!

  Thanks, it worked after I checked “captured and imported clips”

  Im trying to figure out the easiest way to relink to the AMA files rather then transcode again to high res files, do you have any usefull information about that?

  You should be able to do that with just a relink. First, mount your AMA drive. Then, go to the relink window and set the following:
  All Available Drive
  Load Media Database
  Relink Selected Master Clips
  UNCHECK Relink only to media from the current project
  In the Relink By window, check the box that says Ignore Extension and uncheck the box that says Match case
  In the Video Parameters window, set Relink To to Any HD Format.

  Run the relink and it should work.
