  Making Text Appear Behind an object in a Video

  So this is probably a super easy question to answer. I’ve searched this site and I’ve searched the internet for help, but I’ve been unsuccessful. I think the problem is is that I don’t know the name of what I’m trying to do.

  I’ve just started in AE and I’m trying to make text appear as a car drives past the frame as if the text was hiding behind the car. I’m sure I need to do something with keyframing and masks but I’m lost after that.

  Can anyone help me?

  Hey Nathan,

  try masking the text and then reveal/move one side of the mask as the car drives by. Shouldn’t be too hard, good luck!

  You can rotoscope the car with an animated mask.
