Archival Cut list
Posted by Scott Davis on July 16, 2012 at 3:43 pmI need to generate a list of all archival material in a show for a producer. In it I need clip name, where the clip starts in the sequence, where it ends, and duration of clip. What would be the best method of getting this to her?

July 16, 2012 at 5:15 pmExport an EDL. It contains ALL of that information.

July 16, 2012 at 5:23 pmMove all the clips in the timeline that you want to include to their own track…then export an EDL of only that track.

July 16, 2012 at 5:25 pmDuplicate your sequence. Lift/Delete everything but what you want included in the EDL. Leave everything in place, don’t ripple. If you need help identifying the material, use clip colors

July 16, 2012 at 8:14 pmI use FilmScribe for all that reporting as it allows for TAB and XML. If you’re new to it, it may take a little ramp up time to get used to all the different report types, metadata selections, etc. But can be quite powerful once you know it.
See Avid landing page for more info here: https://www.avid.com/US/resources/filmscribe

July 19, 2012 at 9:40 pmJust a note for future reference. I found an application called “Brewer” https://www.brightscreentv.net
which will take an EDL out of Avid and convert it into an easily readable delimited file that imports into Excel perfectly. Very easy to use and well worth the $30.
