  • Do Composer and or Symphony utilize multi processors when transcoding?

I regularly need to transcode large amounts of digital footage in order to cut Prores in FCP. Apple’s compressor and FCP have been my suite of choice thus far. I know that I can link to quicktime files and edit in Avid, but experience has taught me working natively is the only way to work. I’d like to make the switch to Avid, but need to know whether or not Avid will utilize all the processors during a quicktime/mpeg/red transcode?

    Thanks

V6.x pegs all 8 cores on my Macpro during a transcode.

Really? Because it doesn’t on mine. I get two of my twelve tops.

    Does anyone know why?
