    Hi, I am using after effect 7.0 and I want to apply the shatter effect to a text layer. Once I apply it as soon as I change the first setting “View” to Rendered, I get this error:

    After Effects error: Shatter: Internal Error (512)

    ( 25 :: 60 )

    I have messed around with this effect before on and changing the view to rendered and had no problems.

    Can anyone please help?

    Try precomposing your text layer.

    Thanks, it worked. but now I have set the view to rendered, and then set the custom shape to the pre-composed text layer. It has disappeared all through-out the time line.

    Then how was I able to make a layer shape shatter? not a brickwall infront of it but make the actual layer shape shatter?
