    Dear all,
I am migrating from fcp7 to avid media composer 6.
My first problem is the setting up of the project. My footages are in HDV 1080i50 or in ProRes422(HQ).

When I import them into my project AVID starts a conversion which is really time spending. Is there a format of footages which is nont converted by AVID but ingested istantanely?

    Thanks in adavnce.

All raw footage takes time to ingest. Quicktimes will come in fast.

You can fast import Quicktimes (do a search on that). You can save time by transcoding via Mpeg stream clip (a free app) to a DNX format and then fast importing that into Avid. This will keep your system from being tied up during long transcode processes
