    Hi gang,

I’m currently working on an Avid Symphony Nitris DX, via Windows Vista. While doing my conform tonight (all DVCPro tapes), I ran across an annoying error during batch capture, and realized it’s happened at almost every gig I’ve ever worked, and with the same deck (Panasonic AJ-HD1400).

After highlighting all clips, selecting “Batch Capture” and hitting “OK”, the computer will get stuck looping that “ding” sound that it makes when it’s ready for a tape. This always requires me to kill the program via task manager and start over. Upon a restart, it goes away. It’s happened at so many jobs I’ve worked, on so many different set-ups, and I’ve never figured out what causes this. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s just driving me nuts. I’ve had it happen while prompting for the first tape, or somewhere random in the middle of the batch. Argh! Help, please?

I’ve seen that before. Insert your first tape. The beeping will stop and it will capture as normal. It’s annoying, but not end of the world.
