I’ve got a project that was created in 4:3, 30i NTSC. My producer wants me to convert it to 16:9. Now, the footage I have is all SD, meaning she will have to take it to a place that can convert SD to HD (although I’m fully aware that SD can never be converted to full HD quality). Should I make the project 16:9 30i NTSC or 720p/29.97 with raster dimensions of 1280×720?

What is the end result of this project going to be? What will the output be to? Tape? Digital file? DVD? That determines what your steps should be.

It will be in multiple formats since it’s a documentary, and will be put to whatever is requested.

[Caitlin miller] ” will be put to whatever is requested.”

That is what you need to find out first. What is requested. Knowing that determines how you try to format the project.
