  • Avid Codec LE V2.3.4 Not installing properly W7-64

Posted by Jan Janowski on November 19, 2011 at 2:54 pm

I’m trying to checkout something for work…
Origional idea was to convert an MPEG file to Avid DNX using Quictime Pro. Problem was audio setting were not correct… and no one seemed to know what they were supposed to be.

I’ve got Quicktime Pro at home, and I’m attempting to load Avid Codec LE V2.3.4 on a W7-64 laptop…
    I’ve even tried a couple earlier versions….
It says it’s installing, but all I see in the Programs (x86) directory is an avid directory, occasionally with an empty directory below it.

Running Admin Privledges, I’ve tried multiple downloads, with Firefox V8 and IE, Even Tried running ‘setup’ program as administrator…. all end up with same issue, saying that it finished, yet, nothing is installed..
Tried also running in XP compatability mode for install…. Same.

There is no Avid software on this laptop…. I’m just trying to load Avid Codecs for Quicktime Pro so I can re-create the issue from work and see where they are going wrong…. (It’s a Challenge)

Unfortunately I can’t seem to load the Avid Codec LE V2.3.4 or earlier software… ???

    Suggestions?

After installing, if you open QT Pro, and export a QT movie, you would find the Avid codecs between the other codecs.

I really wish that was the case….Not even after restarting.
I’m not seeing that, and that’s why I posted here…

So, I then tried it on my desktop computer….
In both cases, it’s W7-64, and QT version is V7.7.1, and both cases I tried to install Avid LE V2.3.4.

Won’t install… It says it has installed successfully…

If I go to C:/Program Files (x86)/Avid/Avid Codecs LE/ That directory is EMPTY….
If I restart, select load a clip in QT V7.7.1 Export (which allows me to export, because I have Quicktime Pro, I see only these as storage options…..

I’ve tried to attach the results to a picture to this file…

OK, It’s NOT Avid software! I just Loaded AJA codec’s and they, too are acting same way (Not being seen in QT V7.7.1)

I actually found the installed Codecs.. See Picture…

NOW… How to Get Quictime to see these installed codecs?

    Thanks!!

Can you roll back to QT 7.7? Did you use the installer from https://www.avid.com/codec?

select “Save as Quicktime Movie” as in your picture.

Then click Options on the right.

Do the Avid Codecs show as options?

What John says. Did you click the options button after selecting Quicktime Movie?

    Thank You Job! and John

I swear it used to be in first selection list… Anyway, documented the audio settings causing issue at work… I’m not seeing the audio issue here… on the file…
    Thanks..
