I have been looking at this controller from Avid to go with the new system I am getting ready to buy.I used a Contour Shuttle Pro on my old system instead of the keyboard short cuts,it worked better for me.
My question is have anyone used it ,and did it work for you?

What I am looking at for a setup is a Mac Book Pro 17″ monitor with a Thunderbolt hard drive and the new AJA Express with thunderbolt. The Avid controller would fit in there nicely if it works on a Mac

Try one out. What I love about it is that it looks nice, and that you can set its shuttle speed to a maximum amount, meaning you can set it to something like 40fps, which is great for scrolling through dialogue while still following what is being said.

However, mine goes unused most days. I’ve been using Avids since 1996 or so, and my right hand is on the mouse and my left is on the keyboard. I need a third hand to operate the Artist Control.

It’s funny, I feel the same way about editorial control surfaces. I bought on for my Final Cut system, but got so used to j-k-l shuttle control that I rarely used it. What I’ve been thinking would be useful, of late, is an iPad app that essentially would be a large hamburger menu with mapable buttons, much like the mapable buttons on the Artist Control surface.
