migrate full avid project with all THE MEDIA Into FCP
so,not sure if this is the right place to ask but i hope that someone can help.
so is there a way to immport an avid media composer project+ the media files into FCP sucsseful?
i know about automatic duck but i want to migrate not only the timeline but all the bins with the mxf files (its a 5d (1080p)project with transcoded links in 185dnxhd)
why don’t start frash in fcp you say? well it’s a matter of time to transcode the ama to prores and than link sound from external sound recorder will take too much time

There is no way to transfer the entire project to FCP. The project organization…bin structure, all of that…can’t be done. You can access the media…raw MXF media…in FCP with third party software like Calibrated or MXF4Mac. So then you have the media. But you will have to reorganize it. Your realtime options will be few, and you won’t be able to view on external monitor if you have a capture card. But you can get it there. It will take a bit of time and effort, but it can be done.
The question isn’t “why start fresh in FCP,” the question is, why go to FCP at all? This really does require a lot of work…a couple days due to needing to bring in the footage, might have to sync it with the audio manually (not sure how the third party software will deal with this), and reorganize…then recut the current sequence (unless you ALSO use Automatic Duck). Is it really worth the effort to do this? That’s what you have to ask.

thanks shane,it’s a project that started with avid but need to continue on fcp for reasons i can’t explain,after what u said it seems better to start frash in fcp and bite the bullit.

You might save saome time by bringing in a proper edl from your old avid project.
