    in FCP 7 once you have Subclips made, you can remove the limits so you can get handles back for example if you didnt have enough extra media for a transition. Cant find this option in media composer, does it exist?

    You can trim past a subclip when not in a film project. In film projects, “hard” subclips are created in order to protect metadata that may change during the span of the original master clip (film to tape transfers for example).
