  • Concatenate MXF files from NanoFlash

Posted by Xander Nijsten on July 31, 2011 at 2:06 am

For a film project I’m running some tests with the DOP. We use the Sony F3 in combination with the NanoFlash (23,976fps, 180Mbit/s, Iframe) and for editing we’ll use Avid MC.

A couple of takes are split in 3,8 GB chunks (for instance 0200301, 0200302 etc.) because of the FAT32 thingy.

I used ‘Import’ and ‘Link to AMA Files’ to get the files in the project but I can’t find n option to concatenate them.

Tips and tricks are more than welcome!! Thank you, Xander

Does the NanoFlash create the files in the typical XDCAM folder architecture (BPAV)? If so, you want to be linking to an AMA Volume and point to the BPAV folder for each card, rather than the MXF files themselves. This will bring in spanned clips as a single master clip (although it still keeps the media files in seperate chunks when you consolidate/transcode.

It’s just a Clip folder with all the MXF files in it – Avid won’t recognize this as a volume.

Just drop them on the timeline head to tail.
