I’m running Media Composer 5.5.1 on a Dell Precision 970 with two Xeon 3ghz processors (not core two), Quadro FX 1400 with 128mb memory, 4GB memory, and the original analogue Avid Mojo. This system has worked for us since Express Pro in 2006.

I’ve now upgraded to MC 5.5.1 and the system frequently and unpredictably stops playing timelines with an error message that speaks to “Flametrhwoer Timeout” and “Transmit request timed out: 200,19900 milliseconds?

When I disable our old friend Mojo and operate in software mode, the problem goes away. But we need the output for monitor and other benefits of Mojo we’ve come to appreciate over the years.

Is the 5 year-old machine underpowered for MC 5.5.1? Or does the new MC not play well with the original Mojo? Or are there setup issues I need to know about?

I did not experience these problems with MC 5.0

Any guidance would be most appreciated.

Happy Memorial Day from a former Army Trombone Player.

if wanting to stay with avid, of course, you have to outgrow mojo.
Your question is if it’s more cost effective to upgrade to a macbook pro with fcp.

I believe the mojo’s are not supported with 5.5.
In fact I think all of their FireWire based I/Os are no longer supported.
    Though I could be mistaken.

    Just call avid and ask

Mojo’s are still supported. Only classic Nitris (not DX) and Adrenaline have been announced to no longer be supported with the NEXT major release (not the current 5.5).

The analog Mojo is not being supported in 5.5
And this will be the last version that Adrenalines will be supported

Read the document correctly. On most systems (not the latest ones) analog Mojo is still supported on 5.5.

My problem seems to be fixed. I changed from Windows XP to Windows 7 64 bit on the same machine. Then installed MC 5.5.1 which is working very well with the analog Mojo. I’m beginning to think XP had become corrupted in some way. The move to 7 was long overdue.

    Thanks for all the replies.
