I am upgrading storage on two Avid Edit Bays (Nitris MC 5.5). I am looking at the G-Speed ES Pro 4TB 4 drive RAID 5 solution (https://www.g-technology.com/products/g-speed-es-pro.cfm). I want to make sure that our editors can handle 10-bit uncompressed HD material with this storage. Does anyone have any expereicne with G-Tech and Avid? From what I can gather online the 4TB tower should playback 10-bit uncompressed HD at 1 stream in realtime, however I wanted to see if anyone had real world experience with this.

    Thanks!

Yes, it does work. G-Tech is a good choice.

You don’t mention your frame size and frame rate, or if you’re YUV or RGB but at 1080i / 29.97 10bit RGB you should only be at about 250MB/s, which falls in spec.

Thank you Michael. Frame size would be 1080i and 1080P both 29.97 and 23.97 most likely single stream. I could bump up to an 8tb RAID 5 for the read/write speed, however that is way more space than we will need.

    Thanks again for your assistance!
