Dual layer DVD in Avid DVD / Sonic DVDit
Posted by Paul Allen on May 3, 2011 at 5:42 pmHi,
I’m looking to produce a dual layer dvd in Avid DVD but can’t for the life of me find any useful information on the process involved. How do you decide where the layer break occurs for example? Do you hzve control over this? Any advice or tutorials would be really useful.
Thanks,

May 4, 2011 at 8:50 amIm afraid I dont know, and find the lack of info / tutorials and AVID support a little frustrating. its like theyve spat out this software but no one really wants to take ownership of it!
Clearly you are looking for answers to your specific issue, but lets use this thread (with your permission) to collate the web locations for ANY AVID DVD resources ??
https://community.avid.com/forums/t/82401.aspx
There are many of these (at least 1-11)Im actively hoping to find more!
Cheers

May 4, 2011 at 11:59 amCheers Peter. That sounds good to me – any tutorials would certanly be useful. I think one of the problems is that the same software has a few different names so it falls between two stools.

May 6, 2011 at 8:30 amHI again
Have you tried making a dual layer disc and seeing what if any menus pop up that are context relevant (ie only appear when dual layer dvd is selected in the drop down box between DVD DL DVD and BLu Ray etc.?Peter

May 8, 2011 at 12:39 amFrom reading what the manual says, it looks like it’s automatically setting it on a random I frame – I don’t think you can specify it.

May 8, 2011 at 9:32 amHi Peter,
Yes, I had a similar thought but when I go through the menus nothing seems to come up asking about layer breaks. Haven’t actually gone as far as burning a dual layer DVD as yet though so will see what happens when I do that. Dual layer DVDs are in the post so will let you know how I get on…
