    Hello-

Running MC5 on 2.66 GHz 8-core Mac Pro, OS 10.6.

Recently shot our first batch of Xdcam HD footage – 1080/60i MPEG HDD422 50 mbps – and tried to ingest into Avid off an external drive, using AMA. No dice. Tried the method I’ve used with XDcam EX 35 mbps footage – AMA volume link – and get the continually spinning ball (and have to force quit.) Also tried AMA file link – choosing the MXF files in the clip folder that seem like the vid files – but get Avid can’t recognize error.

As far as I know we preserved the original (pretty complicated) file structures from the original optical discs on the external drive we’re linking from. And the base vid files seem to be .mxf.

So what’s best-easiest AMA method for bringing this in?

Don’t know if this sheds any light on the issue but Xdcam clipbrowser also can’t recognize this Xdcam HD footage (though it can see our Xdcam EX stuff.) Am I missing some kind of plug-in/codec?

One other, kinda related thing. Have been able to finder level transfer 2 of the 4 original optical disk folders off the field drive, onto our external NLE drive. But I get the following error message trying to transfer the other two – “The operation can’t be completed bec/ the item “ALIAS.XML” is in use.” Getting it when all apps are closed, and re-launching the finder. Any ideas about this?

    Nick.

    Hi Nick,

I could be off here, I’ve never actually had to deal with XDcam MPEG, but if the files are MXF, why don’t you just drag them into the avid file structure on the drive (AvidMediaFiles>MXF>1) you’re going to and bring the clips into Avid via the media tool? No AMA necessary.
