  Transcoding Question

  (my server timed out when I hit post direct, and I don’t see it in the forum, so I apologize if this gets posted twice)

  I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge when it comes to the really technical stuff. I’m trying my best to learn though!

  Ok so I received MXF files. However, when I go to relink them, it says wrong format. After some research, I discovered Media Xpress does not support 2:1, which is what I’m trying to relink.

  How can I transcode them? I know one option is to upgrade to Media Composer, but I’m not sure about fitting this into our budget (I work for a training department for machinery, so our budget is dedicated to more than just video needs). However, if I can make a strong case, I may be able to convince my boss.

  I work on a PC. Besides Xpress, I have Sorenson Squeeze, Pro Tools, Quicktime (regular not pro), and Adobe Production CS5 Suite, which includes Media Encoder.
