Avid MC 5 MXF relinking
Hello,
I recently had some dailies remastered in DNxHD (MXF container), and the files were given to me in a directory with a bin file and a folder full of MXF files. I’m using Avid Media Composer 5 on Windows 7 Professional x64. When I open the bin in MC5 and attempt to display a clip, the playback window shows “Media Offline”. I’ve surmised that I need to relink the clips. However, when I try to relink, an error appears that says (roughly) “No clips relinked, try following “. After trying those steps, the error message becomes “No clips relinked”. Anyone have ideas on what should I do?

Try taking all the offline master clips and make a sequence of them. The hilight both the sequence and the new clips with media and try “relink to selected.” I am assuming that the clips have the same tape name and timecode range?

Is the directory the proper Avid media directory? Avid Media Files>MXF>1 ?
If not, MC won’t see them.

Let’s check if your avid sees them at all!
Open the Media Tool, all drives, Master clips, all projects and see if the media is in there.

Guys, it’s a bit late I know but I’ve got a similar problem.
I’m on MC5 and have recently moved RAID servers and am in the messy stage between using old and new.I wanted to manually move some .mxfs from the old server onto the new so moved them in the same directory as the rest of the files that Avid can see without a problem (i.e. AvidMediaFiles/MXF/1).
However, despite doing a ‘Refresh media directories’ and ‘Load Media Database’, and even deleting the database files within the media directory, I can’t get Avid to see the footage, either when trying to relink or simply using the media tool.Any ideas what’s happening? The mxfs were created using the same MC5, the same computer, and in the same project as the rest, I’m only doing these few manually because I set off a big import on the old server at the same time as the main server transfer was happening (so it got overlooked). And I can see them if I log into a the old server version of the project, so they are valid mxfs!

…oh right yeah, I just rebooted and everything was fine!
I forgot Avid only rebuilds databases properly when it opens, not when you do ‘refresh media databases’… doh!
What would we do without the old ‘off and on again’ technique.
