If we are working at 1920 X 1080 in AVID, what is the proper size and format to create graphics at in Photoshop/AE and such. Is there still a Square vs Rectangular issue?

    And while we’re on the subject… how about 1280 x 720?

Photoshop no longer even offers a PICT output. Is it best to save as a tiff with an Alpha? Or a Photoshop File with a layer against transparent.

    Thanks

    HD is square pixels.

If you are working 1080 , then you are using square pixels. No issues.

If you are editing native HDV or DVCPRO HD, there are different pixel aspect ratios, but if set correctly, Avid can handle the conversion.

PICT is no longer supported. TIFF or Targa (tga) will be fine. Just be sure to flatten and not use compression if exporting a Tiff).

“If we are working at 1920 X 1080″…. you have answered your own question. Photoshop has a HD TV template.
