  rendered files unrendered

  Hey all,
  This problem has been plaguing my department for years.
  We have an Avid Unity system, running 2 hp xw8200 workstations, an old Mac g5 and a Mac Pro.
  The problem we incur, is when we render an entire sequence on one machine, those rendered effects do not show up when we open the same project on another system. This happens sometimes even between the two xw8200s.
  I would expect this to happen with the G5, but I don’t understand why it would happen with the two xw8200s, which both run MC4.
  Any ideas on this issue?

  Hi,

  Just a thought, when rendering, are you rendering to the drive on the Unity or are you rendering to the local (C:/D:) drive?

  Randy,
  I asked the assistant editor if he had rendered to the C drive. He told me he hadn’t, I’m yet to check up on that myself.
  I try to tell people to be pretty careful about that kind of thing, as Avid has a habit of choosing whatever Unity drive it wants to send media to.
  If nobody else has had this problem, perhaps I need to make the time to check exactly where that media rendered to. We worked around the issue (rerendered), but would like to solve the mystery for the future.
