  • Why does Nitris have two reference inputs if it won’t let me plug blackburst and tri-level in at the same time.

My Adrenaline box has separate reference inputs for SD/ Blackburst and HD/ Tri-level, so why doesn’t the new Nitris DX box? What do other people do?

of the ref in/out, the Manual says, “Either connection can be used for input but the other connection must be terminated externally or connected to a terminated piece of equipment.”

    and

“the reference sync input must be connected to a valid sync source, either black burst or tri-level at the appropriate frame rate, common with the external equipment. If the loop-through connection is unused, it should be terminated with a 75ohm terminator.”

So do I manually have to switch cables on the back of my $15,000 box? that would be lame. anyone?

    Thanks

    Its a loop through…not a second input.
It allows you to loop reference through the DX Nitris to other equipment instead of running a full second cable from the sync generator.

Install a patch bay or switch if you want more than one type of sync connected.

Thanks, what kind of switch? Are blackburst and tri-level analog?

We have everything done through patch bays as it makes life easier. However, if this is the only thing you are going to be switching, you could try something like this:
