  recording a voice over with a matrox mx02 mini connected

  I have an xw8400 running mc5 with win7 64bit and a matrox mx02 mini. I want to be able to record a voice over without having to quit out and disable the matrox, but when I open the digitise tool windows mixer is greyed out. Is this because I
  don’t have a dedicated soundcard in the xw8400?
  I cannot believe you have to connect a microphone
  through a firewire device when a matrox mx02 mini
  is being used?.
