  • Sequence Won’t Play – Missing Meridien I/O Box

    Hello,

I inherited an old computer with Avid XPress v5.8. It was used at a post house way back when, and I do not have the Meridien I/O Box it used to work with. Thus, when I open AVID, it warns that some functions will not work since I don’t have the box. One such function is playing the sequence. I can play in the source monitor, but not the sequence. I figure it’s because however the system was initially set up, the Meridien was chosen for sequence playback. I could be way off, but I feel like if I could just change that, all would be fine. I am only using this AVID to practice on, I’m not planning on doing any real work/exporting/ingesting with it, so any sort of workaround will do – it doesn’t need to give me any capability, really, except sequence playback.

    Mac OS X v10.2.8
    640MB Memory
Processor: 867 MHz Power PC G4

    Thank you!

I’m surprised it even plays anthing at all without the Meridien hardware boards attached.

If you want to train, why not download the 30-day free trial version that will run on most any modern computer?

I’m still running on OS X v 10.4.11 and you need Snow Leopard to run Media Composer 5, which is what AVID currently offers. Unfortunately I can’t find any earlier versions to download a trial of.
